Prior to 314 AD, the year Roman Emperor Constantine, in Trier, Germany, 120 miles SW of here, declared Christianity the religion of the Empire, Kleine Fortmann Ancestors in the Lohne area belonged to the Germanic Tribe known by the Romans as Cheruscians.
