  Jean migrates to Montreal Canada about 1671, age 23, two years before Jacques Marquette explores Lake Michigan and entering the Fox River, proceeds down the Illinois River, and the Missippi to Arkansas before returning. The business of the day, in the 1670's, is fishing, trapping, and trading with the Iroquois Indians along the St Lawrence River lands. The French settlement at Montreal and the tiny villages around it are growing and the French and Indian Wars of the 1750's will be a future harbinger of conflict with the spreading cancer of the English Colonies. The Bourcier Line shall grow from Jean, the first ancestor from the French coastal fishing community of Saintonges located on a West Coast Atlantic bay of central France.
