1885 John Morris, age 50, born 26 Dec 1835, taught at Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland, Professional Surveyor, Married Catherine Sheridan 4 Oct 1864 in Carlow, Ireland. Arrested 16 months later on 25 February, 1866 for his role as Notorious Fenian Head for Carlow. Fenagh and Myshall Districts. He provided these Districts with "rods" supplied by a fellow Fenian, Moore. He was arrested at his Uncle Edward Nolan's Farm House by Constable Cox at about 7AM. He was held in Carlow "Goal" until deported. British officials paid 50 pounds and Arthur Cavanaugh an additional 50 for his capture. (see newspaper article by Saunders for further details. He settled in Chicago in 1867, his wife, Catherine O'Callaghan joined him and they had a first Son, Robert Emmitt Morris on 16 August 1867.) Worked for Chicago Railroads most of his life and was deeply involved with Irish Freedom Issues and his Catholic Church.
